Integrity Commission says no charges will be laid against the Prime Minister.

Just hours after the Integrity Commission of the Office of the Contractor General released a report which stated they recommended PM Andrew Holness to its Director of Corruption Prosecution, the Prime Minister released a statement rubbishing the allegations in the document.

Here is his statement:

In it the Prime Minister stated that it has been a "longstanding practice that Members of Parliament are asked to recommend contractors to undertake works in their constituencies". He also strongly disagreed with the report and said, "...I will do all in my power to ensure that the truth is known".

Then a day later, in a interesting turn in this case, the Integrity Commission released a statement that the report which came from investigation on the PM was in fact turned over to the Director of Corruption Prosecution (DCP) in early January. At that time the DCP had ruled that no charges would be laid against Mr. Holness.

Apparently they are saying the information in the report was insufficient to show corruption, therefore exonerating the Prime Minister of any allegations of conflict of interest.
