A notice released 5 AM today (July 5) by the Meteorological Service of Jamaica is forecasting that Jamaica will experience more rain in the aftermath of hurricane Beryl, due to a Tropical Wave coming in from the side of the Lesser Antilles. According to the Met Service, the system is expected:
"...to move across Jamaica later today and be west of the island by Saturday. The Tropical Wave is producing a large area of showers and thunderstorms as it moves across the Central Caribbean and is expected to [influence] unstable weather across the island throughout this period."
The Met Service also noted that due to the very recent onslaught of hurricane Beryl on the island and the "resulting ground saturation", landslides are very likely to occur.
We are to also expect an increase in windy conditions by Saturday caused by "the presence of a Low-Level Jet Stream", it said.
The forecast tonight will be isolated showers across sections of southern and northern parishes, otherwise mostly cloudy.
For Saturday, July 6, Jamaicans should expect early morning showers and the possibility of thunderstorm conditions mainly across the eastern and south central parishes, so Clarendon and Manchester, brace yourselves for more rain. Scattered showers in the afternoon and thunderstorms across sections of most parishes. Also windy conditions.
